Originally serving as medium transport with the armed forces of 25 countries across every continent, this helicopter was brought to prominence during wars in Algeria and Southeast Asia. While stationed at Michigan’s Grosse Ile Naval Air Station, the aircraft was partially damaged in a fire involving a fuel truck and a C-119 Boxcar. It was hauled to the Soplata property in 1963, and is now part of the PlaneTags Soplata Collection.
